History
The Sumter Track Team has been the top track program in the State of SC for the last 20 years. We have won 8 AAAA State Championships and have been runner up 5 times. The program has had four head coaches during this time period; Sammy Way (1981, 83, and 85), Rut Dingle (1990 and 95) Al Dunn (1997) and Steve Robinson (1999 and 2000) . Carl Baker who is currently the girls head coach has been here at Sumter for each coachs' tenure and is a very important part of our rich tradition, past, present and future. Coach Baker led his girls to their first region championship in the 2000 season. Read about each Coach in the Coaches Section.
All - Americans
